Talking Buildings
We constantly talk about architecture, commenting on its forms, functions and emotional impact, but what if buildings could talk about us? In these times of digitalization, social networks are full of feedback, comments and opinions about the city and its changes. The question arises – to what extent do the epithets we use and the way we talk about the city really reflect ourselves? Typography in visual communication is one of the main ways of conveying information, and building facades are one of the most important parts of a city’s visual communication. Comments on social networks show that the city is shaped not only by urban planners or architects, but also by the people themselves, sharing their perspective. Changing comments about the city’s architecture are projected onto the gallery windows – as if our words were lying on the city’s walls. What if our opinions directly shaped the architecture? The exhibition is displayed in the windows of the building – the way we look at the city every day, but rarely think about how it looks back, and the window glass becomes a mirror that reflects not only the buildings, but also ourselves.
